How Long Do Crowns Last?
How Long Do Crowns Last?
Hi, I’m Dr Terence, one of the gentle dentists here at Dental House Group.
I saw one of our long term patients, Peter, from Darley yesterday. He bit onto a seed, and unfortunately cracked his tooth. With one of our CEREC crowns, we managed to help him get it fixed on the same day. One of the questions he asked me was, how long does a crown last, and what is the warranty on them?
Well we thought this was a great question so we decided to make a video on this topic.
To start, I’ll explain what a dental crown is, and why we would need one in the first place.
Dental crowns are a cap that go over the whole tooth. They protect a weak tooth from cracking. And in most instances they do this job much better than a standard filling.
Based on many dental studies and research, we can say that crowns will last around 8 years on the low end. If they are getting well looked after then we can see them lasting 10 years and onwards.
In general if a crown breaks, we are thankful it is the crown and not the tooth. And in most cases it can simply be replaced with a new crown.
Here at the Dental House Group, if you break your crown, it’s covered by our 5 year warranty. This means that as long as you’re attending regularly, we are happy to replace the crown at no extra cost to you.
I hope this gives you are better understanding of how long a dental crown lasts, and their warranty here at Dental House.
If you have a broken tooth, we would love to look after you. Here at Dental House, we offer CEREC same day crowns, so this saves you time and money, and get your fixed on the same day. Simply give us a call on 1800GENTLE, DM us on social media, or complete the form on our website, and we will help you organise your consultation.
