How Do All-On-4 Implants Differ From Traditional Dentures?
Hi, I’m Dr. Fong, the founder and principal dentist of Dental House Group and AO4 Implants.
One of our long-term patients, Mary from Taylors Hill, is considering a major dental transformation and was considering All-on-4 dental implants. She was curious about how this procedure is different to traditional dentures, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to share more information with you, just in case you are also considering All-on-4 dental implants.
Basically, the main difference is stability. Both All-on-4 implants and traditional dentures aim to replace missing teeth, but the similarities pretty much end there.
Traditional dentures are removable and rests on the gums. They are held in place by suction, adhesives, or sometimes metal clasps.
All-on-4 implants, on the other hand, are a fixed solution. Four or more implants support a full arch of teeth, offering a stable, long-lasting alternative.
You know… All-on-4 dental implants are a game-changer in the world of restorative dentistry. Unlike traditional dental implants, which require a separate post for each missing tooth, All-on-4 allows us to restore an entire arch—either upper or lower—with just four or more strategically placed implants. This not only minimises surgical intervention but also shortens recovery time.
With traditional dentures, you need to remove them for cleaning, and you may require adjustments or replacements over time. Whereas with All-on-4 implants, they are designed to be long-lasting and are cleaned much like your natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing.
Many people who wear dentures often complain about the difficulties in eating certain foods, or speaking clearly. With All-on-4, these issues are generally non-existent, beacuse the implants mimic natural teeth in both function and appearance.
While All-on-4 implants can have a higher upfront investment, they often prove to be more cost-effective in the long run because of their durability and minimal need for replacement or repair.
Now, if you’re someone who has suffered from extensive tooth loss and you’re tired of the inconvenience and discomfort that comes with dentures, All-on-4 could be an excellent solution for you.
In terms of the advantages, there are quite a few… from better speech and ease of eating to higher comfort. After explaining them to Mary, she was really excited to hear that she could finally say goodbye to her slipping dentures once and for all!
So, if you’re like Mary and you’re considering a fixed solution to your missing teeth, whether it’s with All-on-4 or another advanced dental solution, we would love to look after you.
