What Is the Recovery Time After Getting All-On-4 Implants?
Hi, I’m Dr. Fong, the founder and principal dentist of Dental House Group and AO4 Implants.
Last Monday, I had a smile consultation with our new patient from Riddells Creek, Jaimee. She is planning on getting All-on-4 implants to replace the dentures she has been wearing for over 20 years. One of the questions she asked me was, “If I opt for All-on-4 implants, what’s the recovery time like?
It is such an important question, so I’ve decided to make a question video covering this topic.
So, What is the Recovery Time After Getting All-on-4 Implants?
The recovery time for All-on-4 implants can vary based on individual factors such as overall health, age, and bone density. Generally speaking, most patients can expect to return to their normal activities within a few days to a week after surgery.
The first 24-48 hours are crucial so it’s best to rest and avoid any strenuous activities. You might experience some pain, swelling and bruising, but this is normal. You will have to rest and follow the post-op care guidelines closely.
After that, you can usually get back to a more normal routine, but it’s important to be gentle on your new implants. Soft foods are recommended for the initial recovery period. We’ll also provide you with detailed post-op care instructions to ensure you have a smooth recovery.
While the initial recovery is quite swift, keep in mind that the bone and implants take about 3 to 6 months to fully integrate. Regular follow-ups are crucial during this period to monitor healing and make any necessary adjustments. Over the next several months, the implants will fully integrate with your jawbone. This process, known as osseointegration, is vital for the success of the implants.
Keep in mind, every person heals differently, so these timelines are just guidelines. For Jaimee, we tailored a recovery plan that would allow her to get back to managing her business as quickly as possible, without compromising her health. Many of our patients find that the recovery period is much shorter than they initially feared. —like a permanent, functional, beautiful smile—are well worth it.
So, if you’re considering upgrading your smile with All-on-4 implants, we’d love to look after you. We provide each patient with a customised treatment and after-care plan to ensure you will recover as quickly as possible.
Now, the best way to see how long the process will be for you is to come in for a comprehensive dental exam and assessment, and we can determine if you are a candidate of All-on-4 implants.
Here at Dental House Group, we have purpose-built General Anesthetic facilities. We offer flexible payment plans, and one of our treatment coordinators can guide you through the process of applying for an early release of your super, so you can get your smile back faster!
